Our History

Although the fundamental principles of our organization remain the same, the affiliation with a national group has altered and evolved since the mid-1960s.  Originally we were a local Committee of the Council on Foreign Relations, which is based in New York City and with other Committees around the country to found The American Committees on  Foreign Relations (ACFR).  Rochester had a strong hand in ACFR, and continued to provide leadership to the organization accordingly.  In 2010, we voted to leave ACFR, and after considerable thought and investigation, made the affiliation with the World Affairs Councils of America.
